Trachyphyllia placement

Hey everyone I just bought a Trachyphyllia brain today. Unsure if it is a geoffroyi or radiata. Will post pics later. Where should I place it at? On the rocks or in the sand bed?

Thanks a lot

Hello,
Place it on the sand away from rock work as you don't want the flesh to touch the rock .
This could cause the flesh to rub and tear which can cause an infection!!
Hope this helps

Ok cool, that is what I had thought. I had even went & read some places. Just the manager at the store said that type you can place in the rocks, but I guess everyone can make mistakes. Everything else I've ever asked him he is extremely knowledgable about.

Here are some pics. I guess it is geoffroyi, it got me all confused reading about how they reclassified wellsophylia into a Trachyphyllia variant.

As I already mentioned this is my first coral to ever own, but I think it is awesome. Last night I was watching his feeder tentacles come out. That's cool, what to feed him? I hear some people say twice a week is good. How big can the pieces of food be though?

Very nice,
Looks like a geoffroyi too me
I found my red trachy like yours become alot more red and seemed to like it alot more when i put it in a shaded area unlike my green one which flourishes in more light
This might help you out if yours stays as pale as it is and your worried about it.

Ok I was thinking of scooting him over, so I'll try to give him a little shade.
So I just place the food on his tentacles when they are out?
Thanks

Use a syringe or turkey baster and cover it lightly with the food, a good meaty fare soaked in cyclopeeze does the trick with mine, hungry bugger! twice a week is enough.
