Hey Everyone! I suggested to RC that we need a Nano Tank for Tank Of The Month. I thought it would be a good idea since there are so many. I think people are just as interested in nano's as they are in Large Reefs. Since I've been on RC I haven't seen a nano tank of the month. So, I wrote them and told them. I am sooo glad they are offering to put one up there! This is exciting. All your tanks are so beautiful!

Louist, HOLY MOSES! That is one clear and stunning tank. Very classy! How do you keep it so clean? Is that a Mandarin I see in there? How is he doing? I'm going to put a mandarin in my 40. Do you culture pods for him? Nice tank. Very very pretty. Is that acrylic? Where can a person get a tank like that? I have never seen one that shape. What light fixture is that? Bulbs? Genix, yours is very beautiful as well. I should say everyone's is beautiful because they are. Hopefully I can get mine to look that nice someday. =)

MarineGirl411, I have suggested the same thing to the Mods before and they told be no lol, they said that a nano can win TOTM, and they have in the past.

Yeah, this is definitely "unofficial" and considerably less prestigious than TOTM. Just for fun. It is great to see other people's nanos though. Some really nice ones here so far.

MarineGirl et al. thanks for you compliments, I am actually surprised that people liked the tank since my tank journal is more of a "tank soliloquy"

That is a mandarin indeed, he's a Synchiropus picturatus, or "spotted mandarin". He's on frozen mysis once a day, and in the almost 9 months he's been in there, he's gained a lot of weight. If you look at the photo, he's quite fat.

That tank is actually glass, I don't think I can be bothered with an acrylic tank because of how easily it can get scratched.

The lighting is an AquaMedic Oceanlight pendant 150w DE 20K with an Osram E-ballast. I couldn't stand the stock magnetic one because it was too noisy.

Ok guys this is my 24dx JBJ nano That is about 1yr. old in the next 2-3 months it will be upgraded to a 40B and will become a mixed Softy/SPS tank instead of just a softy tank.

Double click to blow image up

In the back left corner is a purple top yellow/light green polyp toadstool leather. It is a little over a foot and one edge has trouble staying in the water some times. About 3 months ago i fragged about 20 mini toadstool off it and it grows faster now then before.

Are you asking about the green coral in his tank?

Looks like a Neon Green Toadstool, I have one that looks just like it.
