clip on heat lamp
i want to move the light in my sump down closer to the water and the chaeto i have in there. right now it's over a foot off the water and mounted on the opposite side of the tank from chaeto, so needless to say, the chaeto hasn't grown much (if at all). my plan is to but a heat lamp with a mounting clip and clip it on the shelf i have right above the chaeto, bringing it much closer to the water and hopefully balancing my PH better at night. is this a good idea? the only concern i have is that my display tank overflow empties right there, so the micro bubles pop and there's a little salt spray (not much, but some). i dont want to start any fires, but i have to do something, i don't think that the light is doing me much good as it is now. any help would be great!

I've got some clear plexiglass that I cut to fit over my fuge. Just go to home depot or some other plexiglass retailer and get enough to cover the opening. I also cut it on the sides and glued it so it "wraps" up the refugeum.
Also, it is starting to sag a bit in the middle; probably from the heat and because I bought some really thin stuff. Just something to consider. |

Oh, I forgot to mention. The spray comes up and hits the shield, but it stays wet so you really don't get anything that blocks the light too bad. Some salt creep around the edges but that's it.
