Finally a tank mate that my Undulate Trigger wont kill!

So after much searching I have finally found the perfect tank mate for my Undulate that she wont kill within 5 seconds.

The new tank mate is a Banded Moray Eel. The Trigger circled the eel trying to figure out if it was worth it and decided against it. Then the eel struck at the Trigger when it got to close, help reaffirm personal boundries I guess.

They both eat the same things and respect each other now, so here is to a long hateful relationship between the two

Make sure you keep an eye on them. I've seen aggressive triggers and eels coexist for extended periods of time in large (240+) tanks, but in smaller tanks I've seen the triggers bite and ultimately kill the eel.

Echidna polyzona, It is in no way an aggressive eel for its only aggression would be with it feeds on small crustaceans and even some small fish and will only grow under 2.5' and your a Undulate Trigger is an aggressive fish. As for this that they respect each other now, this will change much in the triggers growth/size. jcupit01, you might do better if you had a Niger triggerfish other then the Undulate.

Good luck...

Undulate triggers are extremely territorial.

It may work for a while, and hopefully it will work long term, but this species is not very tolerant of other fish.

Actually, the best tank mate for an undulate, assuming your tank is big enough is another undulate of the opposite gender.

People have actually had surprising success with mated undulates.
