Warranty Denied

They said the pictures show an impact crack or overtightening of the bulkheads thus not a manufactures warranty issue! I have had many tanks & never used more than my hands to tighten the bulkheads. I would never cause an impact crack either. Also, the tank was set-up for 40 days or so until this happened. There are multiple cracks, some coming from the bulbheads, some in the opposite side of the tank. I don't know which happened first since I was asleep when it happened. Anyone else get denied or honored for warranty?

What do you guys make of this?

Unless the bulkhead or the piping coming out of the bulkhead was "bumped" after setup, I cannot see how this could happen. What size tank (and glass thickness) did this happen with? Did you have it drilled or did it come drilled from the manufacturer? It sounds strange because I've seen over-tightening of a bulkhead crack a tank but only on the thinnest of glass...like a 10 gal.

It was standard 220 gallon, drilled by manufacturer. Obviously thick glass & it was hand tightened & set-up for 40 days with no problems. It took them only 2 minutes to respond that they are denying the warranty.

I'm so mad right now, that I am waiting to respond to them.

That' not right, a manufacturer drilled tank that is that thick SHOULD NOT crack from over tightening a cheap plastic bulkhead...and 40 days after being setup at that. It sound's like it's their fault and I would fight it.

Total BS. I would talk to someone higher up on the foodchain. I think those bulkheads would sooner crack and fall off before it holding on and exerting enough pressure to crack tempered glass.

You would have to REALLY tighten the bulkhead to crack glass that thick. Sounds like a defective tank to me. Who is the tank manufacturer?
