Sequence Dart Problem

My Pump wont start back

I just installed the pump. The first time I started it it ran smoothly but I had to turn it off a couple seconds after starting it to fix a leak. After the leak was taken care of I tried to start the pump back up and it just sits there and humms.

The impellar might be stuck or obstructed or your center rod or the grommets that hold the impellar is out of wack.don't run it like this or you'll burn it out. open it and give it a visual inspection.

Turn the pump a little with a screw driver (there's a slot on the back side of the drive shaft, where the fan is, inside the little rubber gromit. It should turn easily. Then power it back up and see if that doesn't free it up.

I got it working. I took the inpeller housing off and there was nothing that apeared to be wrong. I put it back on and left the housing a little bit loose which freed it up a little and the it started. I then tightened the housing back down and all is good now.

Thanks for the tip about the screw driver. I didn't even know that was there.

The pumpis still fairly loud. I have read that they are almost silent but this one has a distinct humm that can be heard very easily with the door of the stand closed and the tv on in the room. I don't know if this is normal for the pump or if it is just mine.

I think I have a defective pump. It is now making a bad rattling sound. Does anyone know the telephone # or the website for Sequence?

My Reeflo Dart has always been fairly loud. MDM did nothing about it, except to say sorry. I think their advertising really pushes the limit when they calim they are so quiet.

i think there claim is correct as they are a very silent pump. at least my DART is dead silent. I would call Sequence on the phone and let them listen to your pump and they will definitely swap it out for a new pump.

If you know your pump is not as silent as it should be keep calling till you get the satisfaction you want and/or find a person that will help you.

Just make sure you have the pump mounted correctly and that you don't have the inlet of the pump restricted in any way.

Here is the contact info for them:

I called and talked to a lady that asked the basic questions but could not answer my questions. She got my name and # and within 30 mins. a guy called me back and asked some questions and is sending me a new pump. All of this in less than 45 mins. Excelent customer service.

hmm... mine never makes a sound unless there is an air lock in it. if air gets stuck in the impeller housing you need to get it out before the pump will start pumping again, that is what the little thumb screw is for. Remember, our pumps are designed to pump fluids, not air.

how do you operate that little thumb screw? i thought that was to drain the volute housing or something.

anyway my pump is silent again - don't know what happened.

EricM - you should call Chris @ Sequence and talk to him about your pump.

*laff* well...i didn't know if you had to do something else so I was trying to make it more complicated.

so far i haven't had to use the thumbscrew as my pump fills up from the sump.

I got my new pump yesterday and just installed it. It is great. There was definantly something wrong with the other one. It is very quiet. The only noise i here is the vibration from the pipes because i used regular PVC.
