Best and cheap are not mutual I'm afraid.

For the money, you could go with a CSS skimmer - I'm told they aren't half bad for the money.

Keep an eye out on the for sale forum - you can usually grab and ER for example cheap.

Quality skimmers are expensive but you get what you pay for!

you better keep an eye on the 4 sale forum and expect to pay atleast $200...being cheap on your skimmer is probably not the best way to go...Pretty much your most inportant filter. if you have the skills may want to check out the diy forum.

I don't own one, but the ASM line of skimmers seems to make many a reefer happy. Not too bad of a price if you can find one used.

For $100-200 I would get a used ASM G3 or G4 or possibly a used ER if you can find one

If you do not want used then the CSS & others are your only decent choices

Marine depot has just dropped the price on the Euroreef CS80. It is now only $200

http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewIt...product=ER1231

It's officially rated for 80gals, but as any Euroreef owner knows they perform well above the rated capacity. For a 125g that skimmer should be fine, and you can take advantage of the price drop, it's usually $250.

I use an Urchin on my 52 and am told that it is rated for a 75, so I would think the next step up might handle your 120.

Cheap skimmer

Why not try a gravity fed skimmer. I got mine for $30 and it never requires electricity. How much cheaper can you get. I do not have mine setup yet, but at the LFS he has one running his 110gal and it works great. I have seen some articles and pictures on here for it, but the search is down so I can't tell you where.
