I have heard that angels such as Genicanthus melanospilos (Swallowtai) are safe.

I have read and been told that Potter's Angels are not only a toss up (meaning individuals might be reef safe), but that they can be challenging to keep.

I chose the Pygmy/Cherub Angel (Centropyge argi): inexpensive, reef safe, stays small, beautiful coloration, good personality. The Flame Angel is a popular choice, but is larger and more aggressive. Many people swear that the Coral Beauty is a good choice. Most people recommend staying away from the Bicolored and Lemonpeel angels.

Best of luck,
Ben

With any Dwarf it's a gamble. But i would try a flameback, Rusty, or Coral Beauty.

Good Luck

I am assuming that the Flameback and Flame are the same fish? I would love to have an angel also.

I have a flame angel and he is good as gold, never picks any of my coral. But as its alreayd been stated, they all have different personalities and therefore one may nip, one wont.

The flameback Angel and flame Angel are different. Check them out at www.saltwaterfish.com I think either would be fine but there is allways a risk with corals.

They are both gorgeous! I am setting up a second large tank as well as a quarantine tank if it misbehaves. I'm not sure that I will do more than soft corals in the second tank as I can't afford another expensive lighting system at the moment.

i have a coral beauty myself. once in a while he will nip at a LPS coral. but it appears hes trying to eat something off of the LPS corals not the flesh itself. i have not seen any damage done by the CB!

The only one I would avoid is a Lemon Peel in a Reef Tank, the rest should be fine although you could never guarantee it..

I have a Flameback and he is great, picks at the rock for food but wont touch my corals..

As for tank size I wouldnt personally put them in anything smaller than a 4ft tank, swimming and grazing space, but I guess u might get away with a 3ft with most..

How about a Dwarf Angel that is pretty reef safe and can coexist with a Yellow Tang and most other reef safe fish like clowns, basslets, blennies???

I have a flame angel and he picks at everything. Granted I have him in my FOWLR but he picks at everything. Every hitch hiker, snail, hermit, anything.

He nips at my serpent stars.

He chases the damsels all over the palce. He literally goes out of his way to chase them. But, does not look twice at my clown goby.. Go figure.

He has personality (rotten one) and knows what he does not like.. But his beauty makes up for it.

My Flame Angle is really great. Never bothers a thing, but does like to chase the Chromis around a little which is fun to watch. I also have a Bellus Angel which is great as well. Never bothers anything and is very peaceful.

Potters are really nice, stay small and would get along well with your list.

I have a Keyhole angel and when I first got him it nip like crazy at all my coral then I clip seaweed algea delight 3 times a week to feed him and it stop nipping. I think that is part of their diet algea , and this worked for me.
