Question Glove recommendation?

Does anyone have a recommendation for gloves to wear when working in the aquarium? The latex gloves from the store aren't long enough and some green plastic gloves I bought from an aquarium supply online store leak.

The gruesome pictures and horror stories here on RC are enough to dissuade me from working in the water without gloves. I figure the gloves have to be relatively long and watertight to protect me from the nasty bacteria.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I don't use glowves, my tank seems to be fine. Just wash your hand before you go "diving". I tried the Coralife Aquagloves, they seem to thick to really have the "feel" you need when working on your tank.

Thanks for the recommedation, collective21. I'd heard the same thing that Dave said about the Coralife Aquagloves. I'm hoping to find a happy medium between the thin green plastic ones and the aquagloves.

Thanks, Dave, for your input. I do wash my hands before and after working in the tank but I still want gloves. I'm a charter member of the "better safe than sorry" club!

Thanks again, collective21. I really appreciate your trying to help me.

Those gloves are the ones I have now -- they're really thin and you get wet immediately upon putting your hand in the water.

I guess I don't have much choice in the glove department!

Thanks again!

I bought mine from Live aquaria. They are great for me. I hated getting my hands all wet and salty all the time. Not sure if these are the ones you are referring to but I like them a lot.

I've gone through 2 pairs of the Aquaglove. The seam between the orange glove and blue sleeve appears to just be heat sealed. From my experience, over time they will leak too. And I wasn't overly aggressive in my use with them. I still kept a pair just in case I need to handle a lot of rock.

Hi. I invested in a pair of Aquagloves about a month ago because I kept getting bristle worm spicules in my fingers! I have had good luck with them, however I find it hard to work with small objects. There are also thinner gloves available through farm supply stores.

labsafety.com sells a wide selection of gloves. I got some of the thick ones for heavy work, and some of the light plastic disposables for feeding or when I need to be able to feel through the gloves a bit more. Both types are shoulder-length.

Thank you to everyone who answered me! I'll check my local farm supply store and labsafety.com!
