Cleaning an old pump?
Just replaced the pump in my sump for a bigger unit. The old pump will be used as a spare in the event the main pump fails. Is there a solution that I can soak it in to remove all of the build up and barnacles?

Good 'ol vinegar. Let the impeller and impeller housing soak in 100% vinegar for a day and all the calcium buildup will dissolve.
If you plan to put it into storage, you could also rub a little silicone lubricant on the magnet of the impeller to preserve it and prevent it from corroding.

I have also use 100% vinegar to remove the calcium build-up on the impellers. It works great. Just make sure to flush with well with water before using the pump.
