IMO purple up = garbage. Save your money, patience is a virtue.

Check your phosphate level. High in phosphate prevents growth of coraline algae.

You can drop your phosphates down with a granule type stuff called phosban. I use it and it drops to nothing.
You might want to check your nitrate levels... higher levels will slow coralline down alot also. Once I had those two things at near zero my coralline exploded all over

Use Seachem Reef Calcium for 2-3 months. It usually boosts coralline like crazy after about a month of dosing. Ask Anthony Calfo about it in his forum here. But it isn't for longterm use -- messes up the calc-alk balance if used longterm. So just use it for a while and then go back to your normal method of maintaining calcium levels.

Freqent small water changes will remove phosphates and bring in calcium.

It helps if you have some rock in there that has some coralline on it to begin with. Scratch it up and that will help spread some spores.
But like Zoos said, be patient. |
