i woke up one night because i couldn't sleep and decided looked at my tank to see what goes on after the lights go out and noticed one of these guys sitting on a rock and waved back to me with 2 fistfulls of xenias.

Exactly, plus zoas, xenia, hermits and a flame angel. I actually watched that sucker nail the fish with its claw and sheared its tail right off. I couldn't dislodge that sucker no matter how hard I tried, it'd just go deeper in the rock. I then introduced him to Phillip.

hmm, I thought these were poisonous, some Xanthid are reported to be. If you have one you have more and if you have more you will soon have no snails or shrimp. Darn things are more trouble than a single mantis shrimp.

Exactly the info I found on them when I caught mine. Reason why I didn't hesitate to kill it. My snails couldn't do their jobs cleaning the tank cause they be eaten before too long.
