How many times have you seen the reference to "you'll shoot yer eye out!" here? Same movie. You have weekend homework. Rent it. Then write us a movie report.

Yeah, we have Directv. Probably wont get to see it either of those days though! We're going to have a house full of people on Thanksgiving and we're never home on Christmas .

Would it be a crime to say I've never seen Caddyshack either?

Back in my single days I dated the daughter of the red-headed bully in the fight scene. He grew up to be a big burly red-headed steelworker in Gary. Kind of a quiet guy...his kids weren't bullies, in any event.

Yeah, I'd have to figure out how to program it first. And find a tape...

"A Christmas Story"....what a great movie! Ironically enough, the film is supposed to take place in like Indiana but was shot almost completely in Cleveland, OH. My mother tells me stories about when they used to go down to the department store in downtown Cleveland to see Santa. First they have to go up to see Mr. Jingaling to get their Christmas Key (don't ask...I still have not figured out the symbolism behind it) and then they would go to see Santa.

My mom watches the film every year. It's sort of a tradition in our family.

You gotta love the scene where they are in the chinese restaurant for dinner and the whole smiling duck incident. Classic!

Nina, if you indeed have a replica of the infamous leg lamp then you are my new hero. Do you have it prominently displayed in the front window, its sultry electric sex glowing for all to see? Do you tell your neighbors that mr. nina won it as a major award?

i can't pick out a favorite part of that movie. i love the whole thing, from start to finish. one does come to mind though...the bumpus hounds stealing the christmas turkey right off of the table. soooooo funny!!

indeed we do, vr. here it is, in all it's glory...ah, yes, the soft glow of electric secks. thankfully, we have no neighbors but it most definitely is prominently displayed in our picture window for the deer, birds, raccoons to see. it came with it's very own "major award" that i will dig out and set it, framed, next to the leg. we have more fun with that lamp!! for a few days during the christmas season, i take it to the office and put it in the bay window. it stays lit at night and you would be surprised at the number of people who know exactly what it is.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

those are a few of my christmas breyer horses, pretty much the only christmas decor i put out. just not enough time to do the garland, tinsel and everything else.

how well i remember, as a child, going downtown to see santa. all of the electric trains, dolls, cowboy and indian stuff, every toy imaginable in the store windows along with the animated figures. such fond memories!

Nina, does your lamp have fishnet stalkings? I have some you can borrow if you need them.

oh yeah, it came with black fishnet stockings. verrrrrry sexy. the switch is such that it can be lit both at the top and the leg lights up or you can do one or the other.

kim, i searched e-bay and found a guy who sells them there plus he sells them privately. i honestly don't remember for sure but i think i may have used the "buy it now" feature. if you google "christmas story leg lamp", you'll find tons of them. beware, many of them are "miniatures". the one i have is full size.

TBS I think it is or TNT runs the movie from Christmas eve through Christmas day.....I know this can be a hetic time but we watch it as we are getting things togeather for dinner.....You can usually find it on TV many times between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It is deffiently worth taking the time to watch .A really good family movie and if your all grown up it will remind you of all those Christmas mornings when you where a kid. You can buy it on DVD at a reasonable price too ...we have it ..have even wafched it in the middle of the summer it's just a good movie.

Scut Farkus

He was also the younger brother in the short lived "Titis" sitcom

Nina, is this something that only comes out at Christmas, or does it stay up all year round?
