I going to Syracuse, NY for a business trip tomorrow. And want to know what do you guy think about this store. Is it worth the extra 20 minutes drive? This is my first time going there. Thank .

I can tell you that she (they) practice excellent husbandry... best Ive seen, genuine concern for the animals.
Give them a call and see what they have and then decide if it worth the extra 20 minutes.

Fairmount is decent. They have about 10 SPS frags in the shop right now, mostly brown in color. I think there is still a clam. Figure about $50 for most coral.

Tropical Zone is good but I hvent been there in about 8 months. They use MH over the coral tanks.

I love Janice at Inland Ocean. She tells you like it is and doesn't try to sell you something that won't be compatible for you tank. I was there last week. The selection wasn't great but I wasn't buying either. They are in the middle of remodeling and adding more saltwater tanks to their system. She has a huge clean-up crew area now. She also had a good selection of live rock. They stand behind their stuff and if you have any problems they do their best to make it right. Depending on what you are looking for it's worth the extra 20 minutes. And if she isn't right there in the shop she is usually up at the house or in the pond on real hot days. Definitely give her a shout if you are going.

Also, if you have never been there before, don't start to worry when you see all the farms and cows, your getting close. IO is easy to miss as it also looks like a barn. Big fish mailbox

Fairmount and IO are both good, but don't expect anything wildly amazing. IMHO nothing in Syracuse can hold a candle to the Rochester area shops. It's really too bad there aren't enough hobbyists in the area to support at least one really top-end shop.

Thank you for all of you help. I'll give her a call before i head up there.

I'm in a wholesale business, so i travel around alot. I try to stop at all LFS in that area. Trust me some of the LFS that i visit (Find) is in the Middle of no where Or some place that you never expect a store there.
