uhhh, a skimmer? Are you talking about fluvals, magnums etc. ditch them, they suck. Skimmer plus carbon, phosban, and some type of filtersock/sponge that is cleaned often would be much better. Of course you can't forget the water changes

Carbon works very well. Run it in a Phosban reactor and it works wonder for water clarity.

I have a 72 gallon bow. The challenge to the 72 is that your sump space is very limiting. Therefore, your skimmer choices are a bit more limited. Despite this, there are many good options. I would consider:

Euroreef CS5-3
ASM G1X
AquaC EV-120
AquaC Remora (If you don't have a sump)

Just to make it clear, although the coralife skimmers are good, they are not in the same perfoemance bracket as ASM or Euro-reef. They are also much cheaper, I understand. But if you are looking at getting an ASM, the coral life would be a down grade.

I've have the exact same tank. I would say a good filter would be about 100 of live rock, a 20gl long sump, and a high quality skimmer. I choose the ASM G1x and am very pleased with the performance.
