South Down Sand in Tulsa OK

Hello,

I have been talking to a local HD. They have agreed to ship a pallet (56 of 50lb bags) of southdown sand. The cost would be $4.99 per bag + $400.00 for shipping. The total cost $680 + tax. This equals around $12.13 for a 50lb bag. I only need around 6 bags. Is there anyone in the area that would be willing to buy the rest? Maybe some how we could get some people together to split up the cost? Thanks, Johnathan

$400 SHIPPING, wow. I believe I would just find somewhere else that had it, but If it all comes through I'd take a couple bags to hep out. If I have room when I go back home to Tx next weekend I could bring you some back " If I Have Room" depends on what vehicle we take.

If someone can tell me what SD sand is I can get it here. We order several tons of river rock a year and our suppliers also carry sand. If its a specific brand I can check into that as well as alternatives. We get good pricing on orders due to our volume plus a huge freight discount. Let me know.

Southdown is aragonite sand that is collected in Florida. It is supposed to be the same sand as the CaribSea oolitic (sp?) sand but a whole lot cheaper. You can do a search to learn more. There are pics of the bags in some of the posts.

One of the guys in my Dallas club has a couple pallets in his garage for sale. If some of you guys need some sand, I could bring it up with me in the next few weeks. We havent moved yet, but my hubby is already in an apt up there - so it should be easy enough. Let me know if you are interested and we will work it out, I think they are 10$ per 50lb bag.

I have SouthDown (Yardright by the new name) in my current 10g nano, and I couldnt be happier. I paid 12.50 a bag for mine and I bought 7 bags in hopes to get my 125g up and running. Even at 12 something, it is a steal. BTW, I believe they are 40 lb bags as yard right and not 50. Just a thought and an opinion
