Tax return what are you going to buy?

Well it's that time of the year again. I was wondering what kind of goodies everyone is going to get. I got me a 37" Plasma TV and a HD receiver.

Already spent it!

1) Tunze Osmolator
2) new bulbs for my 48" 4x65w PC fixture
3) suspension and wheels for my new car
Everything is being delivered this week

I had my 50" HDTV about a year before HD was offered on our local cable...was astonished when I finally saw what it could do. Congrats on yours!

I didn't give the government an interest free loan this year, as a result I've spent it before I even had to file

Thank goodness for Costco liberal satisfaction warranty. :-D I got a rain check on their Vizio 42" plasma HDTV for $2K. Not a bad price.

plasma tvs have pixels? I thought that was an issue with LCD tvs only.

Plasmas use plasma crystals instead of liquid crystal. Plasmas are tested and most will have pixel problems in 3-5 years with 5 years being the max life. But of course, buy it from costco and return it for a new one in a few years. I make all my big electronic purchases from costco because of thier return policy.

With my tax return, half of it will be invested, but the other half I'm getting a Epson R800 photoprinter, DVD burner, T5 retro for my nano, and probably a few yumas.

I did what you did, Mike. No interest free loans to the feds here, either. Too bad I don't get a refund, though. I'm off to Hawaii and could use an extra $3k.

Absolutely nothing! I just did my taxes. I got married last year, and doing married filing seperatly gets my wife back $150, and me paying $378! If we do married filing jointly, we get $52 back. But my wife owes her school library $50, so we get a whopping $2 back!! Of course I haven't done state yet, so we'll probably wind up having to pay a couple hundred. The state always gets me.

I hear for next year they change the married filing stuff so that you'll get the same if you file jointly or seperately.. According to a CPA that was at a meeting I went to a few weeks back... Hopefully it will all be figured out by my wedding in 06=)

neuro I hear that last year I was in the same boat I was used to getting back $2-3k and I ended up oweing a total of $2k last year, talk about a nice buzz kill... I'm happy I only owe $95 to the state this year and the fed is giving me back like $35... Kinda offsets the fee's I paid for Turbotax=)

I love it when people get excited about a tax return. IT WAS YOUR MONEY TO BEGIN WITH! You just OVERPAID the government throughout the year, that's all.

Some people don't. I'm amazed at people who think the government is giving them money, but they don't know why.

Hey, be careful out there. Some good reading before dropping some serious dough on what you might think is a great HDTV.
