HELP! Aptasia is over running my tank

Like the title says, aptasia is over running my tank and I am not sure what to do to both stop it and keep them little *^$*()&'s from coming back.

What is everyone's favorite way to rid themselves of these things?

Get a needle a syringe and inject them with liquid calcium. The calcium will only help your tank and they will not come back. Usually when they fieel the needle they will tuck into a rock just keep SQUIRTING! It's like dumping a whole bag of fertilizer in one spot on your yard. HTH

Any drug store. Just tell them you need a 3ml syringe and a 20gauge needle.(Actually any gauge needle will work)Trust me their not illegal to buy, you just have to ask for them.

Joes Juice. I didnt know it when I bought 50 lbs of live rock but there were over 50 aptasia on the rock. Some were big but most were small. I injected Joes Juice and there were gone. Never came back.

Dont waste your time with anything else. Buy this stuff, it works and is reef safe.

Sorry Aruba but calcium is cheaper, easier and you need it anyway. No need for any water changes after your done. Not saying that Joes Juice doesn't work but im sure everyone has a bottle of calcium lying around.

once you get rid of the most part the pepermint shrimp will definatly keep them out. If you have so many you need to get rid of most or they will spread faster than your shrimp can keep up.

In my 120g I had about 7-10 aptasia on 2 rocks start to really blossom after about the tank running for 1 1/2 months. Got 2 peppermint shimp and after about two weeks nothing left except the one thats in my refugium. The pepps might take a little while but by the end of 2 weeks they just started mowing them down.

I had one little Aiptasia rear it's ugly head. It came in on my live rock. Since my tank is still cycling, a fellow reefer from RC suggested a turkey baster and boiling water. This worked perfectly, and it's an excellent option if you can isolate a cubic area. Just be aware that it's probably not the best idea in a heavily stocked tank...and it will bleach your rock a bit.

I'm using Oceanic Salt, so I would just hit them with a super concentrated dose- it's loaded with calcium. Check calcium content of your salt and just mix accordingly.

We have used copper banded on several occasions for ridding our tank of aptasia. The problem we would have is after he wipes them out, they seem to starve themselves looking for more. We have tried a variety of foods and they don't want to touch them. We will be purchasing another one in the next week or so when our LFS gets them in.

I'm very lucky. My copperband eats very well. He's the best addition to me tank since I've had it.
