Help!! Slime Attack

Help my tank is being overcome with slime. It looks like spiderwebs all over everything. It contains small bubbles and is forming on snails, corals, glass, everything. It is also accumulating in my sump.

What is it and more importantly what do I do about it. Like whenever anything grows out of control in my tank I have shut off the MH temporarily but I don't know what to do next.

Please help

that looks like some spawning.. or you got some major chemical warfare going on between some corals.. do some large water changes and add some carbon, see if that helps

I don't believe it to be spawning although I would be happy for that to be the case. It doesn't seem to be orginating from anyone place or group of corals. Here are some more pics.

I have seen a few people complaining of this problem this week but no good explanations. Maybe it is spawning and many tanks are spawning together?????

Has anyone seen this in their tanks? Can anyone confirm that this is a spawning event I don't need to be concerned about? If I need to take action I need more info please.

Well, even if it was a spawning event, you should still be concerned, in my opinion. That would be a lot of organics going into the tank. It however, IMO looks like coral slime. Are all your tank prams in order??? Is something aggravating your corals, causing them to slime????

Do you have any vermatid snails? Do a search on this website and you will see what I'm talking about if you are not familiar with them. HTH

Thanks Dennis

I do have a single vermatid snail and don't think this is from him spreading (I hope). A lot of this slime is on the back glass and appears to be growing there rather than accumulating, although I am not sure I could tell the difference. It is thickest on the back glass.

Today the slime seems to mostly have dissipated. If it goes away tomorrom great but I would still like to understand what is going on in my tank.

Any other ideas?

I've seen slime like that when I would frag shrooms, but wow, not to that degree.

This morning the slime has completely disappeared. I am finding it difficult to be relieved not knowing why in the first place.
