beware of zoo nudis from aquatis treasures
im not bashing the store, just trying to give everyone some friendly advice. i was just reading a thread from someone who had just bought a colony of zoos from aquatic treasures that was infested with nudis. i also bought a colony there a couple of months ago that had a horrible infestation with them. so, if anyone buys zoos there, please do a dip before putting them in your tank---id hate to hear of anyone losing all their zoos to these things.

Good FYI saw your other thread in the Zoa forum
http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...hreadid=495526 AT said they are going to get a lot more from someone in STL????? Here is a good thread on dipping. http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...hreadid=451720 I just dip mine in straight RO/DI and shake them under water. Lots of junk falls off. Suggestion no matter where you get them.

Which means you can bypass the middleman and get them cheaper locally. There's a lot of people with awesome zoos here and there's a guy that sells by the name zoomania that has lots of nice stuff for very reasonable prices. I betcha that's where he's getting his zoos from...Check him out....BTW, Ya can't blame a LFS for that kinda stuff- they don't even know what the nudis are in most cases. It's a natural part of the oceanic ecosystem that unfortunately comes with the territory of wild collection.

You're right, I do get some of my broodstock there.
As for the nudis, if you buy a piece that has them, its easy to clean. When they get in your tank, you're in trouble. LFS can't clean all their systems regularly to prevent nasties. However, they shoudl warn customers that they are there. When I bought the piece, I saw them and pointed them out. The owner could not see them, but the other guy who works there said he knew they were there. Kentrop11 is right that they are part of the eco system. Just be careful what you buy ... and pet store owners: BE Upfront, Tell them they are there, tell them how to clean them out. BASTA. I am going to try starting an experiment on those nudis. I will set up a seperate tank, breed them, and then find ways to eradicate them. So far, high levels or iodide kill them and their eggs. Alwatys taking nudi donations to broaden the genetic bank.
