Bravo mummra, I think I might take some pictures today. Although after looking at all your beautiful polyps I definately have coral envy I'll only have exteremely basic stuff and no spectacular color morphs like you have.

address to swap?

Anyone have an address for the frag swap?

I could only find 2 places in the Hayward area:
Aquatic Specialities & Pets Inc (510) 477-9683 31640 Hayman St Hayward, CA 94544
or
Innovative Aquatic Specialties (650) 595-1316 80 Glenn Way San Carlos, CA 94070

So, this thread has been moved to the link above? I'll check it out and post there just to be safe. I don't want to miss anything.

Thanks for the comment, bookfish. I like that one too.

Could ne1 else comment on my zos on page 7? I'm wondering what you'd rate them as -- common all the way to rare. Thanks.

to be honest

I wouldn't consider any of them rare, just nice.
At this point most of the formerly "rare" zoos are getting pretty common.
The exceptions being the Pacific blues and pinks.-Jim

I honestly didn't expect any of them to be rare all things considered, especially after seeing mummra's zos, but having them called nice by another reefer is satisfying.

Thanks for the heads-up on what's becoming more rare. Pacific blues and pinks would have to be considered rare IMHO due to some of the ridiculous prices some people are willing to pay. If not a rare zoanthid, a rare color morph or simply a highly desirable one.

No this thread is NOT moving to the above link, this thread is still this thread The above link are for peoples to post pictures of what they'll bring as a preview of things to come just because this thread is quite crowded as it is and it'd be nice to get a thread dedicated to just frags, hence the creation of he other thread, more pictures less talking = good times

And while your zoos are definately nicer than any of the ones I have I think the rarity factor of them might be diminished because seems the "in thing" now is sps. Although I know at TP they had a particular zoo a while back that I wanted, although didn't know how much they cost.. and you know what they say about having to ask price...

Thanks for clarifying that, Mike. I actually noticed right after I hit the Submit Reply button. ^^; Concerning other LFS, I've been primarily to All About Fish and The Aquarium in the Bay Area since they are closest to me, but I did see one large LFS in the S.F. Chinatown area a while back. Have any of you been to the LFS I go to? Of the LFS you've been to, how would you rate them overall? Personally, I've never been to TP (Tropical Paradise?), but would like to check it out.

bookfish, what do you stock your DT with, BTW? Just curious. I can only find two pics within your RC Gallery.

What do you mean DT?
Also I think there are 2 pages but they're more than 5 months old.
I can't remember how to get to the second page but it's there.-Jim

Talking no DT for me please

I don't have a display tank per se. Although I did clean the sheet of coralline off the front of one of my growout tanks.-Jim

For an idea on how many corals you can get from one frag swap, at the Dixon swap I only got softies and a couple LPS. After a few months of growth with only one introduction ( a monti cap) it is COMPLETELY full and I have given away several frasgs of stuff. this is an 18g tank.

It really depends how generous everyone is. If everyone brought a frag for the event, then everyone would only get one frag. If everyone brings 3 frags, then they come home with 3 frags. Now obviously not everyone is going to bring the same number of frags, but depending upon the average frags people bring will dictate how many frags you come home with. The first BAR swap (after it became a new club) I came home with 3 frags, but that one they were fragging as the picks went on, so how small they made frags dictated how many people got.

So you want more frags? Be generous bring more yourself. Someone will pick yours instead of one you want

well said

And the overall rarity of the frags works the same way. I'm going to be bringing frags which definitely have high value in trading circles and I'll try to bring multiples.-J

Hi,
I've never been to a frag swap and was just wondering if you have to have a frag for trade or if frags are for sale/given away at these meetings to newbs. I only have some xenia, gsps, candy cane, and a frogspawn, but none have grown enough to frag.
