What is needed for a hospital tank?

I need to build a 20L Quarantine/Hospital tank and need to know what is needed for filtration?

Do I need a airline pump if I have a filter that puts oxygen in the water? What type of filter is best for this application?

Thanks

I would use a cnaister filter and let it run in your establish tank for a while at least a month in order for the necessary bacteria to colonize in it.

So is a canister filter a good way to keep a quarantine tank running? I will still need to do frequent water changes is this correct?

I would do water changes on the hospital tank with water out of your main tank. That way the water conditions ought to be the same.

Cool thanks for the info. One other question is how do you supply the water with oxygen? I didn't see anything on that in those articles and thought it was important to do that somehow.

Thanks

air stone? or if you use a canister, have the return above water usually works.

(Gas exchange on Quarantine Tank)
And what if you have full glass hood? Should you not use a full glass hood?

I'm thinking about going with a Hagen AquaClear Filter along with a Maxijet 400. Full glass lid as well.

Does this appear to be a good plan for this app?

Either way, its not going to be a FULL glass top. You have to have an opening for filter and that should prove enough for a gas exchange with the water from the filter falling into the water in the tank.

Better to worry now than worry later. I never QT'd my fish though, but then again I got it off a local reefer with a nice tank, haha. When I get my Yasha/Yashia Goby, I definitely will though.
