Need reassurance...

I got a GBTA on Saturday - a real healthy guy: great brown color with flourescent tips, tight mouth, geat bubbles, slightly sticky, etc. I brought him home, and after a 3 hour acclimation introduced him to my nano cube. I placed him high in the tank (64W 50/50's) and he looked like he did in the LFS for the entire day. As soon as the lights went out, he hi-footed it down under a ledge, where he found a great spot and a new home.

Now, he's about twice is LFS size and eating well, but really opens up only after lights out (where he's about 3X his original LFS size). After the lights go out is also the only time he gets completly out from under the ledge he's in (except for his foot, of course).

The LFS i got him from only kept him under 4 30W NO flouro tubes, about 36" from the bulbs, so i thought that maybe my lights were too bright, and he's just acclimating. Last night I took one of my 32W's off of the timer so now he's only under 32W during the day. My hope was to come home tonight to find him full out, expanded and soaking up the glory of his new, lower-light conditions. Alas, he looked the same as he did the past three days.

So, reassure me that i just need to keep this up for a couple more days, and that this is completely normal. OR, should i plug the other 32W in, and allow him to get more light on the tentacles that are exposed during the day?

Gimme your $.02.

How many gallons is your nano? It may quickly outgrow it.

I think it's just adjusting to the new lights. If it wants more light, it will climb up closer to it.

Good luck!

Right now he's in a 12 gallon nano. The tank is going to be a dedicated anemone and clownfish tank along with a pair of percs. If he gets too big, i know more than a few local reefers that would be interested in providing him with more space.

Thanks for your input.

Sounds like a good plan J.

I have 2 tank raised ocellaris (false percs) in my 90 gal with 2 BTA's and the only thing they host is the corner
