center brace for 30" tanks
can anyone tell me why a 29g or other 30" tanks don't have a center brace. my 29g is bowing at least a 1/4" on the front pain of glass. I know that tanks do this sometimes but it seems so extreme and I guess I was wondering if most 29g do this or is my tank doomed for failure and a wet floor?

Hmmm, I've had a couple of 29's before, and the definitely did not bow at all. This is a glass tank?

i have one setup right now and its not bowed. Are you sure that the tank is nice and level not leaning to the front?

no if anything I cheat it to slightly out of level to the back to avoid tip overs with my young children. Young children and reefing don't really mix. it is a glass tank. I wonder why it is doing this. I mean I have had 10g that bow because the glass is so thin. What is the worst case scenario. Tank burst, doesn't sound fun to me.

I'd say you are certainly at an elevated risk for tank failure at the very least. Don't think I'd sleep well myself with that situation.

can you think of any reason that a standard manufactured tank would react like this. I am not sure of the exact brand of tank but it is manufactured for sure

I think I am going to have to figure out how to make a center brace. any ideas. I think I could do it with acrylic not quite sure how I would connect it

is it possible to just get a new tank or is it already set up? For the hassle of trying to fix it it might be better and more "worry safe" to get a new tank. If you want to try to fix it get some thick acrylic and make a piece to run across in the center of the top and "lip" over the sides to help support the center.

Also, is the tank made to hold water B/C i know that some tanks that are meant to keep reptiles have very thin glass and are designed not to hold water.

the glass is plenty thick, I will try that center brace with acrylic. It sucks because the tank is drilled, plumbed, fixed with a DIY overflow, the works. No livestock so it wouldn't be much more than just draining the tank and replacing with new tank. Plus I kind of had my eye on the 37g tank that is same dimensions but just taller than a 29g.
