heater/fan setup on AC Jr.
The instructions say as a guide to set your heater to +/- .3 degrees around a constant temperature you would like to keep. For instance, if you want to maintain 80 degrees set your heater to come on if the temperature drops to 79.7 degrees and go off if it reaches 80 degrees. My question is will the heater be either on or off in between those...say at 79.9 degrees?

I also use the ACjr. It means that your heater will turn on when the temp gets to 79.7, then it will stay on till the temp gets to 80.0 which then it will turn off.
When the temp falls back down to 79.7 it will turn on again. I think a .3 shift is a bit to much. I have mine set for a .6 shift. I just don't want my heater turning off & on that many times. |

Sounds good. Thanks for the help dave.
Can you help me with the setup. I tried last night and got too frustrated. I am going to try again now. I have my lights set up but am having problems setting up the heater and chiller. My first question is, are the icons under the time telling me which items are where in the setup? For instance Ive got 8 icons there. Are those the 8 things that I will have plugged into the DC8? |

THey would be the 8 timer instances that you have named. YOu can do a max of 12 on the Jr. Jump into the sponsor forums, and then under Neptune Systems. You will find a wealth of information in there. I did when I first started the setup on mine.

Heres my heater program. I use aquanotes.
timer name HE1%-A5 Program If Temp < 79.3 Then HE1 ON If Temp > 80.0 Then HE1 OFF I don't have a chiller but it should read something like this. name CH1%-A6 program if Temp > 80.2 Then CH1 ON if Temp < 79.5 Then CH1 OFF The main this is not to have your heater turning your chiller on & of so you kinda need to off-set the temp range. |

It's at the half so I have time to post. IU's winning by the way
You will need something like this. http://www.neptunesys.com/misc.htm The minidin 8 go's to the ACjr serial port and the DB9 goes to your computer. If you need the cable longer than the 6' one they have then there are places on-line that sale them longer. I never had any luck at any local computer or music shops so I just got mine on-line, 50' as my computer is in different room. There have been some people who have used there USB port but I never tried it. Also id you want to leave it hooked up to your computer all the time then most people also need the Ground Isolated Serial Connector. If not it will cause your PH readings on the ACjr to be low. Some need it, and others don't. |
