Hello from here in El Paso

Hello Everyone

I have been reading the posts in the forum and figured I would introduce myself. I am relatively new to the world of saltwater life and loving everything I learn. I am getting my feet wet with my nano and already see the possibilities. It helps to have Sam and this thread to answer questions when I have them. My 12 gallon nano has:

1 clown
6 medium pieces of rock
2 snails and 2 crabs
1 open brain coral
1 live rock with numerous button polyps and red mushrooms
1 reddish-brown tree-like inhabitant (not sure of its name)
1 clam
the back of the tank has been foamed with blue rock embedded in the foam giving the nano a cool 3D backing.

The tank was already cycled and had fish when purchased back in late September. I find that as the tank matures the colors are captivating and the tank inhabitants keep me in awe. I am on the look out for small-medium and colorful frags to add. My 3 daughters and I recently tried our hand at building a tank stand for the nano (cinder blocks, plywood, 2x4s and paint) and to my husband's (and ours) suprise it came out awesome!

I can see why this hobby is more than just a hobby. My next tank will be one with slow moving inhabitants like seahorses (a personal favorite), pipe fish and when the tank is seriously mature, a mandarin dragonet (another personal favorite). Of course corals, plenty of grabbing / anchoring items for the seahorses, live sand and rock. I read as much as I can and ask questions when I have them. Sam has been extremely helpful in providing me with education, information and tank inhabitants, thank you for that.

On that note I look forward to getting to know the El Paso Marine Aquarium Society and learning more about keeping saltwater tanks.

Welcome! I'm pretty new to the forum also. Glad to see that there are other women that enjoy the hobby, too!

MzKym

To Reef Central and ELPMAS We look forward to sharing the hobby (addiction!) and hope to see you at the meetings. Usually, there are frags to trade, lots of information and good company. I wish the group had been going like it is now when I fist started out!

Strayvoltage -

Jay
