Sun Coral

I have a sun coral that does'nt seem to be doing very well. From all that I have researched, I need to be feeding the coral mysis twice a day. First of all, what is mysis and second of all is feeding each polyp twice a day really necessary?

Mysis is frozen shrimp that fish and corals love.

Feeding a sun coral is a must, as it has no other way to survive. Once per day is fine, you can skip a day or two here and there but the coral only gets what you feed it.

I've had mine for a few months now and it seems happy enough with target feeding once or twice a week. It will also catch bits from the daily fish feedings (frozen foods) and loves Cyclop-Eeze which is an invaluable food supplement. Cyclop-Eeze will stimulate the coral to open up so can be used 10 minutes or so before feeding your fish or target feeding the coral(s).

I feed my fish frozen brine shrimp, my aneome freeze dried jumbo shrimp, the other coral I have in my 75 I feed cyclop-eeze and phytoplankton. What type of frozen fish do you feed your fish. i read that I should'nt feed the sun coral brine shrimp. That's why i was wondering what mysis was.

To target all the polyps i cut a bottle in half put airline tubing through the lid and screw the lid on and then use a syringe to squirt it through into the bottle so the coral can catch it.

What I meant was, do you use a dropper or some other tool to feed it?

The Sun coral was my 1st coral so I had no experience with it.

It's been going strong for about 6 months now! here's my secret recipe:

Food: Cyclop-eeze - I dont feed anything else.
Times: I feed 1 - 2 times a week. 3-4 is better but since it's nocturnal it's hard with work schedules etc.
Feeding: take a chunk of Cyclop-eeze and dissolve it in a bucket/measuring cup/whatever with tank water. Then use a turkey baster and squirt the Cyclop-eeze over each polyp until it closes up. The entire endeavour takes 5 minutes or less and you'll have a healthy and growing piece.
