Leathers ...
Did anybody have ever any problems with different types of leathers being together?
I finally added a nice bright (not yet) leathers to my system. Soon after, first finger leather changed its skin and now my devil hand went death. I am not sure why ... One more thing - what would be consider an optimal salinity for mostly soft reef? Thanks |

I have many leathers, along with LPS, SPS & other softies. I also run Purigen for that reason.

What is your salinity? Did you notticed leathers to be more sensitive to salinity then others ? How offen should they drop/change the skin?

I have a bunch of leathers. I don't believe they are anymore sensitive to salinity then any other coral, but that's just my opinion. Mine is at 1.024. The store I buy mine from keeps there at 1.025. I know that almost all leathers like flow, so if yours looks weak, I would consider moving it to a higher flow area. Shedding often happens to mine when I first introduce them to the tank for the first few weeks. I don't know why, but it has always seemed to happen to the ones I get, only for teh first few weeks though, then they perk right up. After the first few weeks, I think mine shed about once every month or 2.
I also don't keep mine too close to the light. Most of mine are placed about mid level to the bottom of my tank. If yours are really high in your tank, maybe consider moving them down some. Hope some of that helps. Steve
