mandarin vs mandarin
i got a male green mandarin several months ago which was fat and happy. being the genius i am i decided to add a psychedelic mandarin of the female persuasion about 3 months ago. both mandarins wwhere fat and happy and pods where running on the glass. i had seen the female which is half the male's size pick at him but nothing serious. today i noticed my green mandy in distress and noted that his flesh was peeling off. i saw the female attacking him shortly after. i dont know if she killed him but no one else bothered him and pods were available. anyone ever had this happen. did she decide to dispatch him and hoard the pods?

Pairing Mandarins rarely works unless you add the two together. If you don't they get territorial over food. I would return her to LFS as the situation will not improve.

As Matt says, you have to introduce both together for it to work, and they must of of different sexes. Even then, there could be difficulties. Eating mysis is nice but is not sufficient as that is not enough to sustain a mandarin in the absence of sufficient copeods. In a 180 gallon reef you should be fine in that department with live rock.
