He is starving and trying too hard to get some algae out of the rock.
Try feeding him half a sheet of Nori every day, add some drops of vitamins to it, fold it into a 1 by 2" square and put it in a feeding clip, he will get better fast.

looks like starving tang to me. very skinny. give it a lot of food. the white thing on the mouth looks like a skinless mouth from nipping on rocks trying to get as much algae as it can.

I just added 5 small colonies that came on their own rock and he has been really nipping at them. I feed a sheet of nori every other day and they go nuts on it. He also eats rods every day. So he is not starving just a pig I guess. As you can see he has a sheet of nori in his mouth in the photo I just took.. He was thin when I got him 9 months ago and though he eats he has not gotten fatter..

this is how it looks if it's not starving

feed it a lot of food. nori daily. hate to see that tang starving. it's cheeks should be plump with the body free of visible bone lines.

Efrain, tangs should be fed Nori daily. Its a pretty big staple of their diet. The graze all day constantly. Put in a full sheet daily, if he eats it all, put in two next time. If you have more then just one tang, put multiple clips in with multiple sheets of nori.

Will nori do anything with my parameters if I have 2 clips and feed everyday?

It will not do much although it might increase some waste but the fish needs nutrition. To prevent the nori ripping off fold it before putting it in the clip. Try also some flake food Prime Reef or Formula 1 which are very high in proteins.
Also add some vitamins to the nori, I use Boyd's Vitachem which absorbs in the nori better than selcon. You may also add some drops of garlic.

I would start with a sheet a day.... if they devour it, then step up to 2 a day.... I dont think it will affect the parameters much if theyre eating all of it... Maybe a little more waste, but thats what we have skimmers for.

Agree with the above posters. You would have to add so much extra food for that to cause a problem. Obviously only feed enough to where the fish eat it, but always make sure they have some in the tank to munch on.
