lid for firefish?

I might get myself a firefish and I was wondering if any of you have experience with them. I have heard some people say that they are jumpers and must have a lid to prevent them from jumping to their death. Is this a real concern? I have a 75 gallon with about 115 lbs. of live rock. I do not want to block any light or have my tank get any warmer than it already gets.

They do jump ot of the water I set up a shield to keep them from landing on the crossbrace and they found a way around it. Of course it was my purple onejust two days ago. It hasent been the first one either.

They are skittish and easily intimidated. When they are scared, they jump. Egg crate will NOT keep them (or most anything) in.

I have had many since I started. None ever jumped out. They dart back to their cave/den (or what not) when spooked. Do not usually venture up the top of the water column. The most they swim is midway. I have 2 reds now. They seem to like each other and swim closer to each other all the time.

I have had 3 different firefish, they are definitely jumpers. When I went to get my first one at the LFS, they stuck the net in and the two jumped. Another time one jumped into the tank as I was acclimating it. A friend had a helfrichi jump as well.

I think with these guys you are pretty lucky if you have an open top and it hasnt jumped yet.

I've seen them jump. I had 1 jump out of my 20G and it was only uncovered for about 10 minutes. The others in my 125G (purple & reg firefish) don't come near the top at all. Just to be safe I keep that one covered all the time

I have various fish attempt jumping into the next tide pool but I have acrylic covers so they don't get very far. I hear thumps. Does not seem to hurt them.

Ive seen them jump on many occasion in the holding tanks at LFS's. I have owned 3, 1 red and 2 purple's. The red one was the only one to jump. If you are worried, get some fine mesh netting and cover your tank.
