Yellow Watchman Eat Hermit Crabs?

Today I Witnessed My Yellow Watchman Goby Grab and drag a Hermit Crab into its Cave/hole. I dont think he can get the crab out of its shell (Or be able to swallow it for that matter - with the shell on). But why would he go for it? Any ideas? I haven't/couldn't see the crab but it doesn't mean its not in the hole some place or crawled out. Any ideas are helpful. Thanks.

Mine move them around when they close by the burrow entrances. Usually they move small rocks and stuff out of the way, could be doing the same; or like reef3r said, he is remodeling the inside.

I've not lost a hermit btw

Cheers

I would suspect that given how territorial a watchman is given its burrow that the hermit was intruding and the watchman gave a beatdown.

I have lots of hermits and worms and my YWG has never done such a thing. That must have been one really hungry YWG.

They like mysis, and they like Formula One medium grade sinking pellets with garlic.

YWG is one of the most reefsafe fish you could ask for. I have soft, lps, sps, hermits, snails, clam, and very tiny fish, and have never had a problem. They will spook out in the presence of tangs: and they are ferocious toward another YWG of the same sex.

I'll bet that's what he was doing. My watchman likes to "collect" hermits all the time, but he never eats them.
