eheim as good as submersible pumps get?
I need to replace my mag 9.5 after 4 years it seems... just stopped working at all. dont know why, how, or when. but doesnt matter, I need a sump return pump and Im not redoing the plumbing for external. I did external once, didnt care for it given the space restrictions under the stand.
so, Id like silence, Id like efficiency, need about 400gph through with like 6equivalent feet of head. I dont want to break the bank either...

Id rank a Laguna power jet or max flo above an eheim.

The Eheim will outlast the Mag, will be quieter and will have more flow (1262). Worth the extra $40 IMO. If you dont want to spend the $ on an Eheim, get an OR 3500.

I also will vote for the Eheim 1262.
I have been running a 1262 for over 10 years straight and ZERO maintenance. Its dead quite too. After that, ... its a toss up for second place. |

I have only Eheim pumps and filters in operation for over 15 yrs without ever a problem worth every penny in my opinion I only buy Eheim after trying all the others. Your Choice!

I only recommend Eheim submersible pumps having seen them in operation vs. many other pumps.

I will take OceanRunners over Eheims any day. More energy efficient, just as quiet if not quieter (this can be subjective as both are about as silent as you can get), runs a little cooler according to quite a few people who own both and have posted here, and best of all they cost about half or much or less. I get mine at www.customaquatic.com .

I have yet to see actual flow and power measurements done by anyone comparing 1260/2500 and 1262/3500. I have seen posts from people who have used both a 1262 and 3500 saying the 1262 has a lot more flow. If it uses more power, but has more flow, that doesn't make it less efficient. The OR pumps do have a very attractive price.

Another OR guy here...consider the 3500 as a replacement.

I ran an eheim 1260 for 7yrs without cleaning it once......i know, not a good thing to practice, point being it never ever had one glitch, and was ran external. Silent as can be.

I've never replaced an eheim in eight years. Went through 3 mag 5's, 1 sedra 5000, and one Quit one 3000. Quite one wasn't even grounded!!
4.5 years if good for that pump. You can plumb to a slightly wider output tube if you want better efficiency, the way QO3000 did it. |

2 years on my OR 3500 and not one slip. I owned ehiem products in the past and yes they are GOOD, But the OR pumps are VERY close to the ehiems with a much better price!

One Word: Eheim
The rest are pretenders. Sack up and buy the Eheim. |

I would also take a OR3500 anyday over an Eheim you can buy 2 OR3500's for the price of 1 eheim.

IMO spend the extra money and get the Eheim 1262.

I have both the 1260&1262 and I don't see a differece in performance. I would go with the 1260. And I love the ehiems. Super quiet.

In many situations, the 1260 and 1262 do perform exactly the same. The only difference is that the 1260 has a slightly more restricted intake, which lowers its max output and wattage. But if you take a 1262 and add a few feet of head pressure, their flows will match.
