Frag Swap date

It seems that we have scheduled our Frag Swap as the same day BAR is having theirs. Would anyone have a problem moving the date back a week to the 16th? If so we could have potentially many more cool reefers and an even better swap. Please post your concerns with either date and let us know what you think. I really want BAR to be able to participate so try and find reasons to pick the 16th if possible

I have no problem with any other date that does not conflict with any major holiday weekend or other club event. I would push it back to May if it needed to be. Whats a month or two difference make in the grand scheme of things, if that was the worse case scenario?

You guys find what works best for all to maximize attendance and quality and I will be there.

Keep it the same.

That is Valentines weekend and a lot of us like to go away that weekend. Don't think wives would be very happy. They might say they are ok with it. but you all know what that really means

I voted for the same day. The 2 club's should and try to avoid this situation in the future unless they find it not to be in their best interest. The reason for keeping it the same are some people who would be going to the bar swap may find it hard to come up with enough corals for both. Also it seems as though some people wanting to attend the bar swap will not be able to due to the changes in the qualifications to attend the bar swap and maybe they are ready to get their swap on. Just my 2 cents I've been out of the loop for a while so take my post for a grain of salt. Either way when ever it is I'll make an effort to attend. I really liked attending both clubs swaps!-) I am sure the reasons for bars changes have been looked at and discussed in great detail and awareness, they have some mighty fine folks over there!-)
If any mars members/reefers in the area plan on joining bar and meeting the criteria I would love to head down with you, of course I think we're to late this time around!-)
Keep it the same, this is not the last swap but one of many to come!-)
!-)

AMEN!!!! If I go to the frag swap, it's gonna cost me much more. I definitely cannot make it on the 16th since I'm taking the bride on a mini get away. I vote to keep it on the 9th.

I do like DOTS idea of moving it back even further.

Perhaps moving it to a date that doesn't conflict with either the BARs swap or Valentines weekend would be best. Just my 2 cents.

The 23rd is the day of Tyree's BACFM so it is not possible. I also don't see the logic in moving it back as far as May. Did someone take March and April off the calendar? We are looking into the best date for the whole and it sounds like several of you can't attend the 16th. Welcome March 1st I am going to talk to the others on the comittee and if they agree I think that date might be best for everyone. Thank you all for the feedback!

Paul

March sounds like it might be the best alternative. I agree that we shouldn't have it conflict with any major holidays or Reef events. January would be nice, but I can imagine that with all the prep work and organization involved that might be too soon.

Keep it the same 2/9/08

Feb 9th is perfect. Keep it the same.

Perhaps the poll should have been sent out before the date was announced.
Some of us have arranged our schedules for this date, now making it impossible to attend on the 16th or 23. March 1st is iffy at best.

Ok I am shelfish, but if changing the date to accomidate BAR members means MARS members can't come... is that a good thing?

I'll live with the results of the club poll if the vote goes to the 16th. I won't be happy, but hey, that's democracy

Is MArch 1st the actual date now? I was excited about a frag swap but then got tickets to see Ron White on Feb. 9th for Christmas. So if it is the 9th I will have to miss the swap, but if it is moved, then I can do both!

Wow this poll was posted yesterday and I just read on the BAR forum the date has offically been changed.
I guess that is what was meant by "March 1st it is...WOOOOOHOOOOO" in this thread.

The poll was set to change the date to the 16th. It seemd there were several people that couldn't make that date because of Valentine's day weekend. We therefore picked the next possible date moving backwards to give as many people a chance as possible. We are truly trying as hard as possible to make everyone happy. There is no date that is perfect for everyone but the date is March 1st. I sincerely hope you can make it. I am humbly sorry for our confusion causing you any problems.

Paul

I'm fairly new to the reef scene in the Bay Area, so my opinion on reef-keeping matters isn't all that weighted.

But as a professional observer of human nature, I thank you guys at M.A.R.S. for being so great. I sincerely appreciate the date change and look forward to swapping with you all (again)...and pitching in $ for my wife and I to eat, and $ for the raffle, but that's all a second thought.
This is a small step for my reef tank, but a giant leap for reefkeeping in northern california.

See you in March!

Tom
