Keeping eel out of overflow
I have a 40g breeder with a custom overflow and my new snowflake eel finds it entertaining to escape into the overflow. I've found him in the sump once, and the second time he made it back into the tank. I just made a mesh top to keep him from escaping the display, but I'd like to keep him out of the overflow. Does anyone have any suggestions of how I can do this?

I just used some aquamend epoxy to stick some eggcrate to the overflow. We'll see if it keeps him in.

gutter mesh is what i use. The holes that create the mesh fit over the cut outs of the overflow to cover the top and still allows the water to flow without any restriction. It's a nice snug fit.
