/cry, a death
yesterday, i got a clown + a condylactis because i saw them hosting together. also it was only about $20.
so i took it home, and after acclimating the clown went inside the condy for about 5 seconds, then left and wouldn't go near it for a few hours. (i think it was getting used to the tank). after about 4 hours, he went back and wouldn't leave the anemone. i was really happy to see them hosting, and at night i checked to see the clown all snuggled inside. the next morning, i find my condy melted because he walked over to my heater. it died, so i siphoned it out and did a water change. my question is, will my clown host other stuff? or should i get another condy? i have frogspawn, hammer, bubble, and torch coral in my tank.

Yes, the clown will host in other things. What, is just about anyone's guess.
What type of clown is it? Kevin

Clowns are fine on their own...they don't really need anemones, and will be okay without one.
If you try an anemone again, I wouldn't suggest a Condylactis...there are no native New World species of clownfish, so a Condy/Clownfish pair is at best an aberration. The experts here can tell you which nems your clownfish will like.... -R |
