It is snowing in my 29 gal reef tank!

I have a 29 gal reef with about 30 lbs of live rock,a couple of different types of flower coral. In the last few days there looks like what seems to be or I thought was an algea bloom but the white "snow" seems to be getting worse. It floats on the top until the down flow current from my filtering system pushes it down and it also is sticking to the glass. Does anybody know what this is and how to treat it?

Is there a white oily film on the top of your water?

overdosing 2 part will create a snow storm. I think its all of the suspended calcium that solidified.

it could it be your coral are mating to. I had snails that did that, tank was milky.

When was the last time you had the water tested? Sounds to me like your snails/crabs are reproducing.

No protein skimmer. I don't have any snails or crabs in the tank. Just had the water tested and all was perfect. Water change approx 1 week ago. May 2 but no more than 2.

It's protein build up on the surface of the water. Water changes will take care of it...temporarily but a protein skimmer will take care of it altogether.
