HOB Refugium Supports

My HOB refuge has 3 support points at the top, and 2 points at the bottom for adjusting the lean on it so it can be level. It holds about 3gallons, and it's sitting on the back of a 10g.

Should I add additional support to it so it doesn't put as much pressure on the glass, or will it be okay?

HOB- Hang on back? Maybe you could put a sheet of acrylic right behind your tank where the supports are and place something of the correct width in other spots in between. That would spread out the pressure and put less pressure in the two lower spots.

Or are you talking about taking off the pressure from the glass altogether?

Yes, Hang on Back. I just want to make sure it won't break the glass. I think the supports at the top are probably fine since I'm using a rimmed tank. But the lower 2 would be my concern.

As a Structural Engineer, I would venture to say that you are actually making the situation better as opposed to worse. If you think about it. The water inside the tank cause the pane of glass to bend outward. The support for the fuge is coming from the outside and bending the glass inward. Thus reducing the maximum bending force the glass can see. Now without actually doing a free body diagram and running the calcs I can't tell you exatly whats happening...but that is the gist of it.
