How high above the water surface do you want metal halide lights to be. Can they sit right on a glass canopy like flourescents?
Or do they get too hot? |

usually 8 inches above the water level suspended in some fasion. i would not use glass tops anyways.

You do not want to put halides directly on the glass. Depending on the wattage, you usually want to shoot for around 6-10" off the surface of the water.
