I have a duel switch blue wave 7 for my Maristar fixture. It doesn’t make any noticeable sound, I mean if you put your ear to it, maybe you would hear a slight hum or buzz, but it’s nothing noticeable like the Maristar fans or even a normal aquarium pump. It’s also built like a tank, strong and heavy, but never gave me any problems at all. Out of all the ballast I’ve owned Jalli, AB / Aqua Medic, I found IMO, the Blue Wave to be the best, unfortunately I may be selling it as well as the fixture in the next couple months because duel 250 HQI has always been way too much for my tiny 46 gallon bow.

Well I hope that helped some, hopefully more will leave their opinions for you.

Both of mine are perfectly silent as far as I can tell.

I use the dual 250w DE version with phoenix 14k. I nothing but good things to say about the ballast BUT it got a crazy price increase this year. I brought mine at the first of the year for under $300 shipped. Now they want almost $500 for it. The ballast is now over-priced, IMO and i would look into getting something else.

Yes had one running for about two years now and it's great.
Never had a problem with it. Running reef optix pendants with hamilton bulbs. Had a couple of bum bulbs lately but the ballast is great and concur with the previous comment of a little noise upon start up but generally pretty quiet.

I'm running USHIO 10k's but I'm going to switch to the Pheonix bulbs soon.

2x SE 400w Radium's (Hamilton 14k's aren't bad, but not as much pop)
2x DE 250w Reeflux 12k's (Hamilton 14k's ok here as well)

I have the outer orbit fixture (2x250 hqi w 4x54w t-5) If I switched to the blue wave VII ballast would I notice a difference?
