Exclamation Marine Center Tangs!

I was just browsing through Marine Center and it said this:

Powder Blue - 55 gallon
Naso Tang - 55 gallon
Clown Tang - 55 gallon
Sohal Tang - 55 gallon
Vlamingi Tang - 55 gallon
Unicorn Tang - 55 gallon
Yellow Tang - 20 gallon
Powder Brown Tang - 40 gallon

Just wondering why they would put these tank sizes?

But then they would have customers with unsuitable tanks being unhappy because they are stressed and have an ich outbreak or other disease

I work for a lfs... do you think a majority of people that sell fish care about their well being? I think $ > fish life to many establishments no matter what they say.

Theyd get a better rep giving the right info

Better rep = More customers
More customers = More money

Thats true. But not as many people have big tanks so when they see that they think it is ok. And they don't know any better. So they buy.

Marine Center

The prices that Marine Center charges, they don't need to sell many to make a mint. I think Dr Foster and Smith is better, more resonably priced, and they offer a guarantee on their livestock. I have had nothing but good experiences with them and heard nothing but good things.

And then if all the fish die of ich, they need to buy more fish

Since you are on the other side of the pond, I will explain how it works over here in the U.S. of A.

Low prices = More customers
Higher standards = higher quality = higher prices = fewer customers = less money

Of course there are exceptions, though not many.

If I showed a picture of a 55 gallon tank with 25 Achilles Tangs in it, the moral authorities would denounce me as an atrocious human being who should be sent to prison for a thousand years for crimes against living beings. If I offer those fish for sale at $10 a piece, I'd have $250 in a very short period of time. That is America in a nutshell, love it or leave it.
