need help setting lights with timer

I have a coralife digital power center and im trying to set the time cycle to my ligths, following the instruction but I cant make it work. The power center has 8 outlets 4 constant power 2 yellow daytime and 2 blue nighttime. I connected the actinic in the 1rst yellow outlet and the 10K in the 2nd yellow outlet. I programed the actinic to turn on 1 hour before the 10K and turn off 1 hour after. But both turn on at the same time. The instruction said something about waiting 24 H. for the power center to cycle but i dont understand why. My lights are 216 watts Nova Extreme T-5 with lunar lights. If somebody have the same power center and can explain to me how to make it work please. Also I put the lights about 9 in from the top of the tank, are this ok? I have no corals for now, and just planning to have corals that doesnt need to much light.

Set the 10ks in the yellow, the attinics in the blue and the moon lights in the black. The time switches the attinics off and the moon lights on from that side of the power centre.

The power center just have 2 yellow and 2 blue. and the instruction read that the blue outlets just work when the yellow ones are off.So i want to run the actinic with the 10K just to star before and turn off after, if i put the actinic in the blue outlet its not going to work in conjunction with the 10K.

the one timer shuts the yellow off and on period-----
the blue timer shuts the current to the attinics off and then the moonlights on.

eg the yellow cycles independant of the attinics and moonlights.

the attinics cycle with the moon lights

this is so the attinics can stay on before and after the halides. If you but them on the same circuit together they wouldn't be able to operate independantly of each other

Sorry capn_hylinur i told you that i understood but when i tried i failed.
I cant put the lights to work the way i want. I put the 10Kin the yellow outlts and the actinic in the blue outlets this time,But the actinics turn on just when the 10K turn off and if I put the both lights in the yellow outlets both comes on at the same time. I want the actinics and the 10K on at the same time but the actinics to turn on 1Hour before and off 1hour after. Dont want to be a pain in the butt, but for real I cant make this work, sorry..

I went to home depot and found a pretty good light timer for christmas trees. It was $20 bucks and has 4 outlets and multiple settings. Worked out great for my reef.

Sorry, but your not going to be able to run your moonlights, main lights and actinics on that timer. When the yellow is on the blue is off and vice versa. You can use that for you moon ligths and actinics and then get a seperate timer just for your main lights. I have the same timer, but not the digital one and thats what I ended up doing. Or if you bought it recently you can return it and get the dual timer that capn showed.

Might just do that.. not trying to steal thread here but how important is it for the actinic to come on before the 10k?

Ok mike and junior thanks for the response. I will find a separate timer for the 10K. And reefaluva dont think its that important but will recreate the cycle of the real life night and day but dont think that 1 hour before and after going to affect the living things in our tank, I HOPE.

the idea here is to simulate a day on the reef:
one hour of dawn--attinics only
day time--halides and attinics
one hour of dusk--attinics only again

Alot of corals react to this---like to feed at the dusk and dawn times--you will see alot of them with their polyps out at that time
I always spot feed or use cylopeeze at the dawn or dusk times

the moonlights--they are just for humans--aesthetic only

------energy wise also---my attinics are on for twelve hours and the halides on for 10--many reefers run 10 for attinics and only 8 for halides. The halides cost way more then the attinics to run.

diverfor life--see if you can exchange yours for the duel timer one--that's what they should have sold you anyways for your lightining system.
