Sorry Joe, I had to ask.

Yes, Cowboy Mounted shooting is a blast. They have events all over S. Cal. from the spring through fall. We use two .45 single action guns. There are over 50 courses they draw from. Each one is set up with 10 balloons and usually a few barrels. Each rider does the same course and it is timed (it's like barrel racing on steriods!). The black powder breaks the balloons. After you shoot the first five balloons, you have to put your gun away and grab the other one while trying to make good time. Of course, there are penalty points for dropping your gun, missing the balloons, etc. After shooting with one hand on a galloping horse and aiming at a balloon blowing in the AV winds, I thought the shooting range was pretty easy the one time my husband took me!

There is also a rifle course and the rider does the first 5 balloons with the .45 and the last five balloons with a rifle.

It's a fun family weekend, as everyone cheers for each other and the kids under 12 aim with a play gun and are timed in their age group. Lots of motorhomes, barbecues and horseplay!

Joe,

You need to change that "no tank right now" and get another one going. I'm sure that you enjoyed your break, but there are some amazing new corals that you would really enjoy.

Joyce, ROFLAO!!!! Now this is the horse play I was talking about! I was just measuring a special area for a tank idea I have. No kidding! Might have to have it made or make it myself. 48x36x24 give or take. You are right about the corals in circulation, they are amazing and all the standards are here too. If I do another reef I'd like to grow only captive bred and from the ground up, meaning frags. Energy concerns me too. 400w MH is my weakness for health and aesthetics but I'd like to use just one of them and T5 or VHO T12, if I were to do it. Ahhhh, look what you made me start thinkin!!!! lol!

So your shooting blanks, are the guys shooting blanks too (I'm talking guns here you sick people) I thought maybe you were using shot shell rounds

I guess it would be a little unsafe with a bunch of lead flying around (oh, I mean steel, don't want to tick off the Ca condor nuts)

Come on Joe, get er done...I've got a 400 watt ballast and a ROI pendant sitting here with your name on it if you need it.

Joe-LOL!

I think you'd enjoy the Coral Farmer's Market coming up Feb. 24th:

http://www.coralfarmersmarket.com/

It's all captive grown corals and there are lots of pretty high end pieces, but there were also lower priced items for those of us that haven't hooked up their calcium reactor for the past five years....

Mark-I hope you can make CFM this year, as it's pretty close to you. As to CMS, I can't imagine if there was lead flying all around. Lots of folks come out that can't ride and/or shoot but want to give it a shot.

Joe-Glad to hear you've found the perfect spot for your next tank.

Joe, now you got the space, the light and now the Becker!!

The whole reef universe is conspiring to make this reef work.

A single 400 with say 6-8 HOT5s (3-4 on each side) over the 36" wide tank, that would be awesome! Get both the cool colors of the T5s and the relaxing glitter lines of the halides. Use your acrylic mastery powers and make a lil' home made kalk reactor and calcium reactor and you're almost there!!

Come onnnnn Do eeeet! Get in the choppa!!

Oh man! I was afraid to ask around and see what still might be alive from my tank. That tort was my favorite. Your's looks really healthy and growing. Do you or anyone know if anything else survived? I'd love a frag if I get a tank going.

This corner tank is pretty nice if you have a spot that it would fit and the price has dropped a few times:

Yes, I wasn't sure if you'd have the room, but I thought I'd mention it because although big, it would fit nicely in a corner area.

Keep us posted on your search!

Anybody seen Frisco or Napden around here? Went to AQcity today and talked to Mike. SPS tank looked ok and other tanks ok too. Nothing out of the ordinary but nice. Good to see him and the place looks good.
Merry Chirstmas and Happy New Year!
