My new used wave2k

I just received a used wave2k standard center unit today and will be installing it later tonight. Is anyone interested in pics/movie of the install/operation?

I got it along with an icecap timer device and I will be placing it on the left back of the tank, somewhat behind the SPS rock stack.

The previous owner was not happy with it, but I am hoping it works for me, I got it at a great price...to hard to pass up

The wave2k looks like an interesting candidate for a mod

I agree, the person I bought it from had to get replacement parts. Now that I see/hear it in operation, there are a few fix it ideas I have.

I tried to get a good movie of it but it's to dark, I had to take the outer orbit pro down to get the wave2k installed. I am going to wait until tomorrow morning to put the light back up.

One thing I noticed, all SPS coral polyps are fully extended

The most annoying thing right now is there is a wave also produced from the left side, pushing the wave into the overflow...very noisy! I will be making a diverter devise before too long.

You bet Tizzy, check it out here...

Scroll down to the bottom and there you will find the video.

I had to replace a piece that also broke for the previous owner just about 2 weeks ago, I replaced it with a stainless steel piece the previous owner supplied me.

It has started to make a noise related to the replaced part and is very annoying I am going to take it apart sometime this week and try and find out why it's making that noise.

It works great but be aware it has parts that will wear over time.In my case, 3 months

nice, but

I assume the parts will wear and there will be a build up of normal crud that can affect performance

Yes you are right Tizzy, if I had more time between my switch from a 46g to my 180g I would have put in a closed loop. My solution of using a wave2k at a reduced price seemed to be a good idea but it looks like I will have to spend a little more to replace the worn parts.

But the wave2k moves allot of water and is cheaper than other wave makers.

I just sent an email to wave2k with a recording of the sound and to let them know about the broken piece that drives the plate inside.

Hopefully they will have a fix or an idea on what to adjust.

Your tank is looking nice Paul! The video is really cool. I haven't followed your entire build but I am sure it's been a labor of love.

Back down to lurking
