Question pairing maroons

ok i have a 3inch maroon clown which im pretty sure is a female and i want to pair it up. i know that i need to get one much smaller than the one i already have. now ive seen and heard about putting the new clown in some type of critter cage?

Yes, get a small one and intro in specimen cont close to where female is.
Give 2-3 days and watch for male twitching for her.
Also watch her, is she curious, or is she slamming at male.

A local dealer gave that to me.
You can use about anything that is clear and has vents/holes.
Most LFS have spec cont pretty cheap.

alright cool thanks for the help!! hopefully they will have a small maroon there oh and also does it matter if i get a gold bar will it pair with the white bar maroon i have now?

Looks like the little guy got some of his talk fin bit off. Congrats on getting yours to mate, I tried the all natural way (no spec container) and the big one ripped the little one to shreds in no time, before I could stop her.

white stripe. suprisingly i got him at petco thats why his tale is a little shredded, they keep all maroons in one tank. and they were the only place that had them this small

how do you know if the new one is male? I have a 4 inch female and want to pair a male with her.
