Question Frag shelves

I would like to install a removable eggcrate shelve for my frags. I was wondering what should I use for this, magnets, suction cups?

I used to have one that I made out of egg crate. I just continued the egg crate over the back of the tank with another piece making a lip on it- kind of like a hang-on overflow box would sit.

That is a pretty cool idea but I don't want to have some pvc showing in my tank. I guess I will have to look into the magnets.

pull out a few rocks and riddle thenm with 1/8 inch holes.

then take a bunch of small pieces of rubble and drill 1/8" holes in them.

get some 1/8" acrylic rod and glue pieces into you pieces of rubble.

walla......frag racks that arent ugly...totally blend in to the reef and get much better light than if they were frag racks hung off the walls of your tank.

I do this for many opf my corals just to utilize angles all over without having to use glue. you can use thicker rods and bigger holes for bigger corals

I took a very cheap magnetic glass cleaner I had laying around and glued one half to the eggcrate. Works great.

Magnets work best, they can be moved around easily.

magnets work fine. but to say they work BEST is kind of silly.

If you keep sps and want the best colors out of your corals, then hanign them off the side of the tank certainly isnt "best"

I used to have several large magfloats hanging eggcrate off the walls...I got tired of having frags that were browned out on one side due to lack of light
