Gobies Jumping?

I bought a Diamond-Spotted Goby and an Engineer Goby yesterday for my 180g reef. I know that these will jump sometimes in smaller tanks... My 180g is very understocked and the only other "bottom dweller" is a small Yellow Watchman Goby.

Do I need to worry about adding eggcrate to the back just in case? Or is there enough hiding places that they won't feel the need to jump?

I would just to be safe. IMO they will wander around the top of the tank at night.

Over the years I have had 3 diamond's and 1 tiger goby jump out of my 125.

I would think some kind of cover would be a must.

My yellow watchman goby have been good however. I've had him for a few years now with no problems.

I think whats more important is to make sure there's nothing that will stress them out. Most instances of jumpers are because they're being harassed by another tankmate, and most fish will swim up to get away from danger.

What causes jumping, as snowboard says, is predators. They jump to escape. This works---in the ocean.
I have a goby tank and don't have a problem---except with little fish going through holes into the downflow. I have sump-surfers, but no jumpers.

I just bought a goby yesterday and found him dead on the carpet.I have several types in my 300.I use to cover the tank(acrylic with 6"borders) but after installing two fixtures with MH bulbs its to much heat so i took off the acrylic covers.I thought about using a thin screen or something that will let light in but also keep the fish in the tank.
