Skimmer tuning help....again

I can not get this thing working to save my life. It's an ASM G1 with a Sedra 2500?? NW. I have the gate valve mod on it. I have the water line about 2-3 inches up the neck of the cup. The bubbles only rise about another 1/2 inch above that. The skimmate I'm pulling looks like a weak green tea. It's been set up since last Friday, but I'll admitt I've had my hands in the tank a bit this past week. There is a 4 inch DSB in the tank with about 100 lbs LR. I also have a 5+ inch DSB in my fuge (~10 gallon partition).

So, my question is two fold:
First: could I not be pulling much out of the water simply becuase there's not much junk in there? (fresh sand cycling in tank, rock cooked in my basement for 3 months)

Second: I've seen pictures of skimmers with nice dry bubbles slowly overflowing the neck and going into the cup, how do I get this? The bubbles seem to pop as soon as they get near the top.

Any help would be great! Thanks!

Patience young Ryan. you have little to no bioload. Let it settle in and then see what happens with it. Also, are the bubbles really small? That is what brings the darker skimmate.

bubbles aren't really that small. But, like you said I have little to no bioload. I was just looking for some confirmation to make sure it was actually working (who knows it's past life, right?). Thanks

I used a G2 for a few years. If the bubbles only rise 1/2" above the water line it sounds like it isnt able to suck enough air into the volute. This is a common problem with venturi skimmers. i used to use a shish kabob skewer in the air line and also the little hole on the volute where the air line connects to clear out mung. Check it out, that may be the problem.
Also, those skimmers take a few days to stabilize so be patient

I'll give that a check. Thanks Engine7. I also just did a quick visual look in on my sump, and it looks like the uniseal is cracked, I have bubbles leaking out where the pump goes into the skimmer. Anyone know where to pick one of these up? (out near me?)
