any ideas

I tried a Coral beauty with my clown in my 29 gal. They didnt get along s he went back. Now I need a new fish. Its a 29 gallon with only a percula clown. My wife wants something colorful in the purple range, not to aggressive. Any suggestions??

Try a Royal Gamma Basslet. It's half purple, half yellow. I have one with my two ocellaris clowns. I also have a Strawberry Pseudochromis. I haven't had any problems.

Any tang in a 29 is not a good thing, they get to big too fast.

Here is the Royal Gramma. I love mine but you ahve to watch him after he gets used to the tank. I have to re arange the tank just so it throws him off and he will leave the new fish alone. But, he should get along with the clown, mine dies. Sorry for the blurry pic.

I agree that a royal gramma would be a good choice. A small goby of some sort might be fine, too, depending on the substrate.

You can get some good information on different fish by going to liveaquaria.com and checking them out. They have them broken down by species and tell you minimum recommended tank size and temperament and how difficult it is to care for the fish you are interested in.

Then you can go to the LFS and see if they have any to show your wife in person and see what she thinks about it.

I also love my royal gramma. My bi-color blenny is pretty cool too and they don't cause any trouble with my pair of gold bar maroon clowns.
