anyone familiar with the Salifert Calcium test kit?

So I bought this calcium test kit and I went through the full syringe and the color was still purple. Basically my calcium is high off the charts. Is this possible without adding chemicals. I just do weekely water changes. If the test is accurate how do I lower the calcium?

That's weird. Did you follow all the steps? Add the solid step 1 and shake during the syringe part?

Yes I did step 1 with the level spoon full and than I added 8 drops of Ca-2 and than I did the Syringe step adding just 1 drop at a time of the ca-3. I wonder if they mislabeled ca-2 and ca-3

You would know if they mislabeled it incorrectly if you add step 3 very quickly. The top of the water surface should change colors, then disapate when it dilutes.

Youre not the first to have this problem with the salifert Ca kits... Look in the salifert forum under vendor forums...

test some freshly made up water using the same kits....then go from there.

I'm done with Salifert kits, they no longer can be trusted.

try the 1/2 scoop of 1 and 4 drop of 2 IIRC it starts off pink then turns blue/purple make sure you are not swirling #1 before you add 8 drops #2

are you using the syringe to count the 8 drops of #2, you are supposed to flip back the cap on the #2 and count drops straight out of the bottle. the small tips on the syringe makes the drops much smaller.. that is why you never get to pink.
